Bike the Coast

On November 2, 2013 Brent and Emma did the Bike the Coast event again.  It's one of their favs because it goes up and down the coast and is relatively flat.  They made good time and had a fun time.  I on the other hand had such a different experience.  I decided instead of hanging by myself this time I would volunteer at the Blind Stokers rest stop.  Riders said it was the best rest stop they had ever seen.  We had pb&j, two kinds of drinks, trail mix, bananas, oranges, pretzels, protein bars, and bike racks to hang your bike instead of letting them rest on the ground, oh and porta potties.  All that stuff came with a bunch of hard work.  We made 20 loafs of bread into pb&j and I smelled like pb&j for the rest of the day, I think there were three large boxes of both the bananas and oranges and one of the blind guys were cutting them up.  That was impressive!  My back ached, my feet ached and I was really tired of smiling.  I also was tired of rude riders who weren't grateful for our FREE service, however, I was so happy to help and give those with big smiles and grateful attitudes fresh sandwiches and larger portions!  It was a fun time with people I didn't or barely knew and I'm really glad that I've been there, done that, and got the T-shirt!
Brent and Emma at "my" rest stop!  This picture was actually taken for Emma's proof of P.E. for home school!
I never got a good picture of Emma ON the bike for P.E. but there she is.  I covered up the other ladies chacha's while I was photo-shopping because no one wants to see that!  Emma looks less that thrilled to be at the very end of her ride.  P.S. This shot was taken with my huge zoom.  Are you impressed with how steady I held the camera?  Don't be I was leaning on a pole!!!
