It's the most wonderful time of the year!

Today is the first day of school! I have been anxiously anticipating this day for some time now. Anxious because it's a new school and we know basically no one but the few people we have met from church. This makes it difficult of course for Emma but for me as well. Last year and the year before I built up a relationship with every teacher and volunteer I could at our school so that I could be useful and welcomed as a part of the school. Granted there were only 250 students at our school but none the less I knew almost everyone. This takes time and I know we will fall into place and everything will feel at home once more but walking into school today was a little sad for me. Anticipating because I have longed for my free time back and because we are not the only Mormons at school anymore. I met four moms this morning who I had not even met at church and they were all introduced to me as "she's in our ward"! Which in turn means that Emma will have almost immediate friends. Which again in turn is an instant relief. Summer has been long even though, because of our move, we actually started school 2 1/2 weeks earlier than before but it has been lonely and long and I am glad it's come to an end. There is a Staples commercial that made me crack up the other night because it is pretty much the epitome of how I am really feeling about school starting. Check it out here!

Question? - If anyone knows how to put a video on the actual post without having to click on a link I would like to know. I have seen a few friends who have had a you tube video or things like that but I can't figure it out. Technically Challenged should be my middle name or maybe just unobservant.

By the way, anyone looking at these pictures who has been the least bit a part of our lives this summer will notice the presence of bangs! Yes Emma has bangs again and it wasn't my doing either. I don't know when I am going to get it through to my kid that she can not cut her own hair. The other morning when I was pulling her very long bangs back out of her eyes I couldn't figure out why they were not going the way they had been the times before. (Side note - Emma didn't want me to cut her hair anymore and wanted to grow out her bangs so I told her she could and that I would leave her hair alone) I finally after a few very frustrating moments, saw that the right side was shorter than the left and asked Emma if she had cut her hair. After the fourth time of asking her she finally admitted that her bangs were driving her nuts and that she cut them to get them out of her eyes. ARGH! If she would have just told me I would have cut them for her. I would have been more than happy to do that! Oh well the bangs are back and not as thick now. There are parts that still have to grow out and that is fine too because they were getting a little on the thick side. Just thought I would throw that little story in for those of you who knew how frustrated I was with her long bangs!

Sounds like the first day of school went well!!! Her hair looks great! It is getting so long! I'm glad that you got into the school closest to home, and that there are more members. Yay!

I laughed out loud at the video. I love my kids . . . but it's time for school. Only 2 more days . . . Only 2 more days . . . If I chant, it seems to make the time go faster! Yay for school!
