Stuck

Normally I wouldn't admit that I have any faults what so ever but this one was kind of funny...in the end and I wanted to at least jot down the memory.  I can now say I've been stuck in  snow and sand.  Stuck in both places I had to be rescued by others.  The snow story is for another time but the sand story happened only a few months ago.  Brent and Emma needed to make sure they could ride the 50 miles for the upcoming event they had signed up in.  50 miles takes awhile and they wanted to do the course they would be riding which is at the coast.  I didn't want to be stuck at home so I decided to make some plans. First I would do three hours in the temple and then go to the distribution center for new clothes and then hit someplace like Cardiff by the Sea with my little orange chair and read a book.

I did get to do my three hours in the temple but then something was nagging me...a lot!  I turned my phone off while I was in the temple so I decided that I would turn it back on and check it but in order to do that I ended up outside because there was no reception.  Brent had called twice with emergencies.  He had called at 9 and it was 11.  I quickly called him back and found that all was ok but that they were done.  With plans changed, I headed to go meet them just north of Cardiff.  I saw them on the side of a parking lot and trying to figure out how to get the car turned around and out of the way because it was a realy small and busy parking lot I thought to myself well there are some rocks out there on the sad, I'll just make sure I stay on the rocks and whip around.  No no no.  See the big patch of darker sand in the picture?  That's where I buried our car.  We sat there for a long time trying to figure out what to do.  People came to look but not really help.  We shoved a blanket up under the tire and it just tore the blanket up.  Next we tried putting half the blanket on both sides with a bunch of our recycle bags down there too and the friction melted the recycle bags.  I called some friends to come help and they were on their way when the life guards showed up.  They said people get stuck there four or five times year!  Put up a rope or something!  They shoved their flippers up under the tire, rocked it and then shoved me out of the sand.  In seconds we were free.  Thank you hunky life guards!!!  As it turned out Brent had had several break downs and flats, rude people and incredibly generous people.  Someone even rode three miles to the nearest bike shop and bought them a $60 tire.  That day was full of generosity from the people of the beach!  Needless to say we went home and slept!

Wow. What a story! Getting stuck in sand is no bueno. I have a story with that, too. I was not lucky enough to be saved by lifeguards though. How did you guys get so lucky? Glad people helped you out along the way.
