I can't see!
Yester
day Emma had her very first appointment with the eye doctor. I asked her if she was nervous and she told me that she couldn't be nervous because she was too excited! She went through the whole appointment with such ease and confidence. She even had to go through this test where you look for a green light and press a button for ever time you see it. She did great!
When we got in to see the doctor he was so great with her. If anyone is looking for an eye doctor his name is Eric White and he is on Ruffin Rd. He talked her through everything and even let her look into his eyes with his instruments. I was very impressed with his ability to work with children. After the doctor was through looking at Emma's eyes he gave us the good news.
Emma needs glasses. To some this wouldn't be good news but Emma is really loving the idea of having her own glasses and being able to see the board at school better. He said that she has an astigmatism. BIG SURPRISE THERE! Both her parents and a bunch of family do as well. She's also far sided but because of the astigmatism she will have to wear her glasses most of the time. The good doctor also told us that she has very little pigment in her eyes and that she will always have a greater sensitivity to light. In other words she will always need to wear sunglasses and the times she's complained in the past about the sun bugging her and her head hurting were valid complaints. She gets her new eyes on March 17th so...everyone look forward to a post on the new and improved EMMA!

Man, you have me thinking about the whole sun thing. I always thinking my kids are over reacting when they complain about how bright it is.
So, I think I saw your dad tonight at the Palora Chapel. I joined the Deseret Corale and I'm pretty sure that it was him that poked his head in when we were singing. Which reminds me, I saw Anita about a month ago at the temple and my friend Jessi said she is in one of her classes. :-)
yay for being able to see!!
Oh how cute! I'm sure Emma's going to look so adorable in her new glasses!!
Hooray for Emma! That looks like quite the exciting trip to the eye doctor. I rember as a kid being excited to go to the eye doctor (not qite the same as I felt towards the dentist) I'm glad she is so thrilled about it. She is gonna look fabulous!
now i understand why she never hugs me before marilene, or always wants to hold her not mine. She can't tell who's hand she is holding. She really thinks it's me. And when she says "Marilene" it is because she has a speech impedement, because you "T" is so much harder to say
