- for anyone who's been following this blog for a while, this will sound familiar. Last year I cycled 70 miles in a charity ride for the American Diabetes Association. I decided to do it again this year. But wait - there's more! On April 18, 2009 I'll be riding in the 100 mile route (century). Cyndi and Emma will be riding this year as well in the 10 mile route. For me, this will be the longest distance I've ever cycled in one shot.
But this event is much more than me breaking a personal record or having the whole family ride. It's to drum up money for the American Diabetes Association. The ADA is the world's largest organization for diabetes research and education. I'm very stingy who I give my hard-earned money to. The ADA uses about 4% of their money on administrative cost, while the rest is spent on 'the good stuff'. Most charitable organization can't even get close to that good of numbers. Thankfully no one in our immediate family is having problems with diabetes, but we know plenty of people that have it and the "PITA" they have to go through to keep it in check.
We're asking you to sponsor us in this event. Any amount that you decide to donate will help. Your sponsorship will help the ADA out, and allow us to ride in this event. We've got a goal of raising $1000 this year. You can use your donation as a tax write-off. I can provide you with a receipt upon request. If you want to donate, click on the 'click here to sponsor us' link that's on the upper-right side of our blog. Once your on that website, scroll down a bit and click on the red button labeled 'Click here to sponsor me'. The link goes to my donation site, but any money donated to me will be credited towards the whole family. Or if you don't want to use the website and use cash/check, just let me know and I'll get you set up.
Last year we had such great experiences and hope to do so again. (Click here to see last year) Any amount of help will be so appreciated. Thank you for your time.
