Every Monday

night is Family Home Evening. For anyone out there reading this post and doesn't know about what Family Home Evening is, call or email me and I'll be happy to tell you all the juicy! We are pretty good about holding regular FHE and taking turns giving the lesson. Before I start this little story I have to mention that I have the sweetest daughter in the whole world. Ok so having said that this past Monday was Emma's turn. The last few times that it has been Emma's turn we have had her read a lesson out of the new Nursery manual. Mom and Dad gave us a new one a while ago and we thought it would be a great way for her to learn how to give a simple lesson. The other night she asked if it was her turn (I haven't been very good at keeping the calendar up to date) and when she found it was her turn she started thinking about what she would do. I told her to look in the Friend Magazine (mostly because I was in the middle of dinner and didn't want to deal with it) and she did but didn't want to do anything from there. Before Christmas we put the Nursery manual up in the book shelf where normally, it sits out on the trunk in the front room but when she didn't want anything from the Friend she went to search out the manual. She asked me to make her a copy of a little game from one of the lessons and then told me that was all I needed to do. I wondered but I trusted her. Time came around to start FHE and sure enough she had read over the lesson and was ready to do it by herself.

It was on the order of prayer. She had us repeat the parts of prayer that we needed to make sure we said and then she talked about who we pray to and why and then we played her game that she had me copy. I thought she was just about done when she said that we were each going to go into our own rooms and say our own personal prayer. She directed me to my room, Brent to stay in the front room and her to her room. We were then instructed to come back when we were done. I of course being the very emotional person I am went and prayed (cried) to my Heavenly Father about what a terrific daughter I have. When I was done I went back into the front room and found only Brent was there. I told him that my prayer had been about what a great daughter we have and he said his prayer was too. I am so proud of my sweet girl. She has shown such love for the Lord and she is really trying to prepare for her baptism which she is taking very seriously. I see her developing her testimony almost daily and it touches my heart greatly. I haven't really realized until now I guess, just how stinkin smart this kid is. I am constantly amazed at who my daughter is and who she is becoming. I love you so much Emma. Don't ever forget!
