On May 19, 2011 Emma performed before a live audience!!! 
It was her school's variety show where the kids have the opportunity to show off their talents. It's a fun night all around. I wasn't sure if I wanted Emma to participate or not but she was determined to. She played Morning from Peer Gynt Suite No.1 by Edvard Grieg. She memorized it just for that occasion. The first time she came home from rehearsals she wanted to drop out. After a frustrating time trying to figure out why she finally told me that she wasn't good enough and all the other kids playing piano were way better. I blew it off and told her that Mrs. Dunn (the one who organized it all and a good friend of ours) wouldn't have let her perform if she didn't think Emma was good enough. Well being greatly influenced by Mrs. (Sis.) Dunn was the ticket and so she practiced to get it right! She came out very confidant and professional, made it through the first part and then promptly forgot the repeat!!! Not that it phased Emma though, she acted like nothing had happened! She put her hands down on the bench, turned, curtsied and walked back through the curtains. What a CHAMP!!! No one even knew she screwed up! That's our girl! I realized what Em had been talking about though when we saw everyone else who played the piano. Those kids must have been playing since birth. They were classically trained I swear. I thought Emma did so great for playing for less than a year! We're so proud of her!!!
