Have you seen the light?
This morning as I was walking back home from taking Emma to school, I looked up and saw the light pouring out of the clouds. It struck me. I had to physically stop and behold the beautiful wonder of the sky. I was thinking then that I would run home and grab the camera and capture this amazing sight forever. When I came back outside with the camera the light was gone. I have thought about it a little this morning. Obviously this phenomenon was not meant solely for me. I am sure tens if not hundreds of people saw the light bursting for a few moments in the sky this morning. I wonder though if they had the same reaction I had. Were they struck and filled with wonder. Did they stop and stare and ponder for a moment about how it is possible Heavenly Father could create such amazing things. I am so grateful to have seen that this morning. There are often times when creations such as this take me back. I remember driving on a number of occasions and coming around a bend or coming over the crest of a hill and being so impressed with the sight before me that I had to pull over and relish in the moment. I remember this one time, my mom and I were on our way to Reno in my little black truck and it was early in the morning and I had been dosing in the passenger seat. All the sudden she pulls over and wakes me up. There is a valley right before a hill that leads into the town of Goldfield Nevada. That morning the valley was full of low hanging clouds. The clouds couldn't have been more than 10 to 12 feet off the ground. We were not surrounded by them but they were more just barely above us. It was truly amazing and not something that I have ever seen since and something that I am not soon to forget. Another time my little brother Trevor and I were on our way to Reno in my little black truck (I loved my little black truck!) Anyone who has ever taken the drive from Vegas to Reno can agree that there is not much to see except a lot of sage brush and a handful of little old towns on the verge of desertion! This time however we were outside of Hawthorn or maybe Walker Lake I think and it was about 5 in the afternoon and we were climbing this hill and the hills in front of us were totally purple. T. said to me, "Do you think that is what is meant by purple mountain majesty?" Again, a sight I am not soon to forget. It's exciting to me to find the beauty all around. The drive from Vegas to Reno and back can be one of frustration, however I have done it so many times now that we have found little places and sights that have become tradition. Maybe if I am bored someday I will tell you all the little fun places that make traveling on that seven hour trip bearable. For now, I am more than blessed to live in a beautiful town. I was with my friend Mary on Saturday and we were talking about how often times we feel like we don't really live inside the city. We passed a sign that said Deer Crossing and I smell skunks all the time and we are constantly seeing little animal tracks in the mud. There are lizards all over our house and every so often you catch the glimpse of a possum road kill. Even at the beach you sometimes can see dolphins jumping or every so often you hear about a jelly fish in the area. There are these ravines all over the city that are so full of growth and green. On the way to the zoo as you travel down Highway 163 you can become overwhelmed with the scene of greenery there. So as the question was asked at the top....Have you seen the light?

Hahahaha, oh Cindy I love to read your posts!!!! Also, YES I HAVE SEEN THE LIGHT!!! :) I was asked to give the lesson in R.S. the last Sunday in April and the lesson is on this very subject..."Have We Not Reason to Rejoice". So this entire month I have been "stopping to smell the roses" so to speak. We were at the park the other day and I just laid down on our blanket and looked up into this huge tree and reveled in the amazing beauty that we live in! So, yeah, be prepared for me to ask you to comment on my lesson!!!!! Hahahaha...also, I was wondering if you wouldn't mind holding Skyla while I teach pretty please?! ;)
