FHE
For anyone who is not LDS and reads my blog and doesn't kn
ow what FHE stands for it means Family Home Evening. We have family night every Monday night so if you are calling on a Monday night and we don't answer, it's because we are spending time exclusively with our family. A few weeks ago for FHE we had nothing planned. Typically I at least have a lesson and dessert but this time unfortunately I had failed to put together anything. Brent had picked up a pomegranate at the grocery store a few days earlier and I got to thinking about having it for dessert. The as I thought about it, I realized that I could make it into our lesson as well. I asked Emma if she knew what it was and of course she said no. I asked her a series of questions about what it could be and what was inside. Then I asked her if she would believe that it was some strange color inside. I can't remember what color I said. She said that maybe it could be. I then put this question to her, "What if I told you that I know for a fact that this fruit is red inside? Would you believe me?" She said she would. We talked about her having faith in what I had said. We also went on to discuss faith in more detail and what it meant to have faith in things we can't see or don't necessarily understand. Eventually we opened the beautiful fruit and greedily partook of its wonderful abundance! Emma said that she didn't ever remember having it before and I assured her that we had had it plenty of times in the past. We all loved digging out the fruit. Since our FHE that night I have thought quite a bit about faith. How often do we get the question in our lives (figuratively), "What if I told you for a fact that I knew this fruit is red inside?" Do we believe or rather have faith in what our prophets know to be true? Do we heed our Saviors council with the strongest faith possible? When we are unsure or lacking in faith on a particular subject that our prophet has asked us to follow, do we spend numerous hours on our knee's counceling with our Heavenly Father trying to understand the prophet's requests? Do we understand that there is beautifully sweet, red fruit waiting patiently just inside for us to partake of? How often do we partake of the fruit that is always available to us? These are just a few of the questions i have been asking myself. Just thought I would share!
