Daddy Daughter Hoedown
Emma's first big dance was with her Dad a few weeks back.
I secretly sorta wish every dance could be with her Dad and that she would never grow up but alas I realize that will never happen. Emma was so excited for this night. She talked about it for weeks. I'm not sure Brent was terribly thrilled about going to a dance because he doesn't really enjoy dancing but he's such a great sport about taking Emma out on dates. Speaking of that, as they walked out the door to leave Emma said to me something about me not having a boy friend because she got him for the night. She is growing up way to fast! I love these pictures. I think they turned out so great! I can't wait to see the one that they took at the dance. If you look close at Emma and Brent they are both wearing cowboy belt buckles. These were my Grandpa Abbott's. One buckle has a big RC from Royal Crown Cola. He used to work for 7UP bottling company and I think RC used to be a product of 7UP. The other buckle had a belt with a pistol on it. They are treasures of mine and I was so excited to have Brent
and Emma wearing them on their date. Emma loves going out with just Brent. I realize I only have one child and it's easy to go out with her and spend time individually with her but I make Brent specifically have one on one dates with her as often as I can swing it. As kids we always had dates with Mom or Dad. I'll admit that sometimes I got a little jealous when one sibling got to go before me when I thought it was my turn or something like that but even if it was just to the store or to pick up something random it was typically just one of us that got to go with Mom and Dad. I thought it was great then and I think it is still great now. Back to the Hoedown...They had a great time and came home laughing at all the silly made up dance moves. (Brent swears he can't dance!) Made up or not Emma still talks about being with Brent just for her own date. I love it that they can go out and have a good time together. I pray their relationship stays this strong through her teenage years!
