Sunday was an eventful day in the Hedden house. Emma didn't wake up sick but soon thereafter was. Then Brent went to set up the computer in the front room to watch General Conference and found the internet to be on the fritz which means no conference. With Emma being sick that meant no driving to the Stake Center to watch it there either. We were totally bummed.

The day sorta drifted by that way until we were all playing the Wii and an earthquake struck! At about 3:40p.m. we started to hear these rumbling sounds like someone was driving a Monster truck in the apartment above us and then we felt the rolling sensations. We jumped up and got under a door frame because that was the only thing I could think of. It's been awhile since I was actually awake or aware of a quake and I panicked a little ok a lot! I remember feeling an earthquake when we lived in Sparks and Dad leaning out of the upstairs bedroom window asking us if we felt the ground shake. I had to be six or seven. Then I remember one when I was in my teen years where I woke up and the pictures were bouncing on the walls. Crazy crazy crazy! As we were standing in the doorway I reached down and held on to Emma and could feel her heart thudding through her chest. I realized all the sudden, I was the adult and needed to not freak out! By the time all this went through my mind, the shake was over and

I needed fresh air. Emma was pretty shaky still and Brent was still a little wound up. Right after it happened I felt a little sick to my stomach. I wondered if it was just because of the adrenaline or if the movement made me have a little motion sickness. I discounted the last because I can go on roller coasters and have no problem. It really seemed though that it lasted for a while but in reality it was only a few long seconds. Emma and Brent talked about tectonic plates and how the quake happened and then we started making dinner. Other people have said they felt after shocks but I never did, gratefully! Emma remained sick most of the day but then by the end she said she was feeling so much better and ate dinner with us. I thought it was great that the flu hadn't plagued her to terribly. I had to eat my words at 10:30p.m. I had been reading when Emma came in and said she was having really bad nightmares. After the earthquake I wasn't terribly surprised. It doesn't take much to get Emma scared of something. I sat up with her and finally after an hour got her back to sleep and thought it was about time I hit the sack too. I fell asleep pretty fast and slept pretty fast until 1:30a.m. when I was wrenched from sleep to the sounds of puking kid. There is nothing that wakes you up faster than puking kid. From 1:30 until 4:30 Emma lost everything she had eaten all Sunday and then lay moaning on the couch during the intervals. Brent got up to go work out soon after that and I went back into my bed. Emma had pretty much stopped but she said she felt like her stomach was rolling around and around. Poor thing. Monday was spent with her moaning and groaning until I told her to go take a nap. She fought and fought with me about her not being a baby that only babies took naps. (I must be a big baby!) Finally she laid down and slept for a good long time. I was pretty sure she wasn't going to sleep last night but Brent got her to try and lay down at about nine. She slept until about 1 and then woke up with night mares again. I thought for sure she was going to start throwing up again but no! I told her to put a movie on and lay out on the couch. Soon after I found her fast asleep to Snow White. Thank you Snow White! She's better this morning but I think we are still going to play it carefully. I'm not really in the mood to be up every night until 1 or 2 dealing with nightmares and puking.
