There is no ewww in cooking!
Emma has always loved being in the kitchen with me and lately she
has fallen in love with the Food Network on TV. She wants to cook everything she sees! The other day we were watching Sunny Anderson (a cook from the Food Network) make this really good looking roasted chicken. She took out some fresh rosemary and Emma says, "Oh Mommy I love rosemary. It smells like taking a bite into fresh air!" Oh I love my sweet girl! Hehehe she makes me giggle! Well when we finished watching this program she begged me to make the chicken. I didn't think it would be to hard and I had a whole chicken in the freezer so we bought fresh rosemary and lemons at the market and I put the chicken out to thaw. So last night we started on this recipe. It called for lemon zest and I taught M how to use the zester (my newest favorite kitchen tool) and then after she helped me measure out all the ingredients for the rub we had to prepare the chicken which consisted of removing the back bone and splitting the chicken in half. I have never done this before and I thought it would be such a great adventure to do together so I made Emma do it with me hence the first picture. She could hardly squeeze the shears so I took over and it was harder than it looked on TV but not terribly difficult. Then we had to rub the "rub" all over the chicken so I took video because Emma was cracking me up du
ring this part. The whole time we were working on the raw chicken she kept saying Ewww and I kept saying that this wasn't disgusting but normal and that she could wash her hands at the end Hehehe and then she got to rub the chicken...watch video now! This is how
the chicken turned out! It was juicy and tasty and terribly succulent. Emma and I had so much fun in the kitchen. I told her this morning that we needed to do that a lot more often because she is so fun to have around. (when I'm not frantically trying to get dinner on the table!!!) The other thing was that she was so proud of the chicken she made and Brent showed the perfect amount of enthusiasm for her to want to keep it up! Way to go SIS! I'm so proud of you!

That is so awesome! Way to go Emma....Oh ya, and Cyndi. :)
So I used to work at the grocery store deli and had to crack the chickens ribs and break the wings to skewer them to cook. Pretty traumatic. Lets just say I didn't eat chicken for years. I totally understand the "ewwwhhh."
I'm totally with Emma on the "ewwwww!" I do NOT like raw chicken! But, I have to admit, that looked delicious!
