Da Zoo

It's been awhile since the Hedden's went to da zoo (that's how Emma used to say it) but when Emma got a free pass with the purchase of an adult ticket I started scheming. I figured there was one friend in San Diego County that would have a free zoo ticket that came with their membership and if we had a free ticket plus Emma's pass then we would only have to buy one ticket and badabing badaboom, were in! Well I asked around and didn't find anything and didn't find anything and didn't find anything. We wanted to go on MLK day when all of us were off. Luckily I was talking to Emma's 2nd grade teacher about her holiday and she asked about mine and sure enough SHE had a ticket!!!!! Winner winner chicken dinner! I was so stoked! Brent got online to look at ticket prices and DANG it's gotten expensive! If we thought we would use the passes we would get season passes but I really don't think we would go that often however that is a great deal. So off to da zoo we went! It was a little anti climatic for us having gone a ton of times but nonetheless it was still a good time to be with family! Here are a few favorite pics!

First time with my hair up in a really long time! So glad it's getting longer so I can get it out of my face. Don't you LOVE Brent's shirt. He got five compliments on it and a few kids that said, "Hey isn't that the one thing off Mario?" He loved all the attention and so did I. Ps. That is a panda's butt in the back ground!

Self explanatory but super cute kid right? You better believe it!

Since we haven't been to da zoo for awhile we didn't know about all the changes to the polar bears area. Emma had a blast while we waited for the bears to come out and play.

Sorry this picture is a little pornographic. This giant panda was eating it's morning meal and exposing all! Totally cracked Brent and I up and luckily Emma had no clue why we were laughing so hard.

This picture was the highlight of our whole trip. The Galapagos turtle came charging (as fast a a turtle can charge) right up to us and we just happened to be standing in the very front. Everyone was trying to gather around us to see it but we just stood there monopolizing the situation for as long as we wanted. I felt a little bad about it but not enough to move. Sorry fellow zoo patrons but I finally got a turn to be in the front and it just happened to be with one of my favorite animals.

These two pictures make me smile. The top is from our recent trip and the bottom is three years ago when Emma was in Kindergarten. The differences behind a mask are small until you really start looking at details. Notice the hunch and the chin placement as well as the nose and the elbows. I got a kick out of this when I went back and looked.

All and all this was a fun day for us and it wouldn't have been possible without the very most sweetest Heather Levchenko who totally didn't have to give us one of her free tickets but did. Thank you so much Heather, you're an angel! You know I've kinda decided that it's a good thing that we don't have tickets to these kind of places to go to often because it makes going all the sweeter. I also have decided that the zoo is a classic trip. You go and are never disappointed!

What a fun day at the zoo! It is amazing to see how much Emma has grown. Great picture to compare then and now.
