Kumeyaay Indian Field Trip

Emma recently (January 27, 2011) went on a field trip to learn more about the Kumeyaay Indians that are native to our area near Poway. It was pretty fun. There was this one old lady who really should only be the tour guide for adults and really then only for adults who are interested in plants!!! She towed the line with the kids though and forced them to behave which is always nice. Anyway here are a few pictures.
First...This view always blows me away. This is the mountain area we live in and I am constantly overwhelmed with how lucky I am to be around this beauty!

Emma grinding acorns - Indian fare!!!

This was an Indian game they taught the kids. Kinda like playing with dice.

Finally they let the kids paint on rocks and gave them some symbols with which to make their own stories with. Some of the kids painted these wild stories on their rocks with the symbols. I thought it was a really cute idea!

This was a pretty fun field trip. The weather was gorgeous and the kids had fun and there wasn't much for the adults to do! That's my kind of field trip ya know?!

Oh ya P.S. I loved Emma's hair this day!

Love her hair! This field trip is really fun. You got some good pics.
When Allie went, we discovered she was allergic to acorns and rabbits the hard way! Poor girl looked like Will smith from Hitch! Don't think she would have made it as a Kumeyay
