Tuesday around our house isn't usually a day that huge things happen. Brent rides his bike to work, Emma and I go to the free movie, we hang out or play with friends. I make dinner, Brent comes home from work, we eat, we watch TV, we play the Wii. That's pretty much a Tuesday. This past Tuesday was different. This past Tuesday we played tourist! Brent took the day off work and we went about town. Here's our adventure...
It started off at the Central Library. I had requested a book but failed to request it to the closest library to us. The Central Library is the default and so of course it went there. Luckily for us we were headed to Balboa park that day and this library wasn't that far off. I got my book and we walked around for a moment and upon walking around found this very very cool globe. It's the Moon! Who's ever seen a globe of the Moon? I had to take a picture!

The next couple of pictures are of us waiting at the trolley stop. We were going to the Aerospace Museum and I couldn't remember exactly where it was so we waited and waited and waited only to find out it was down the street from the stop we were at! Oh well these pictures were cute!

The first thing you see is when you really get into the museum is this space capsule. It's the real deal which is so so sweet. It's always cooler when you get to see the real thing. Emma was really impressed with it. This was the first one to go up into space. It didn't land on the moon because it was the tester but it did come back into orbit as planned. Super duper neat! Unfortunately this is the back side of it because there were a bunch of people around the front side but what's cool about the backside were all the scorch marks. This was worth the whole day for me!

Emma posing in a helicopter we waited 20 minutes for her to sit in! Way cute smile though!
So this next part of the story gets a little crazy. After the Aerospace Museum we decided to leave the park and get some lunch. Initially we decided to head into Old Town and hit up one of our favorite Mexican places. We were following the GPS, which got us totally lost, and ended up back on the freeway headed toward the beach. All the sudden I got this idea to go to Hodad's. I know I've done a few blog posts about Hodad's before so I won't go into everything about the restaurant. This lunch time favorite fit into our activities so incredibly great this day. We didn't have to wait long, the weather outside was gorgeous and of course as always the food was FAB! After lunch we walked around Ocean Beach area for awhile and then decided to head back to Balboa Park for some more free Tuesday Museums.
The first stop when we got back was the Hall of Champions. I had no idea it was "San Diego's" Hall of Champions. We love our sports but not quite that much and although it was cool to see that stuff, we didn't end up spending very much time there.
Next was across the street to the Automotive Museum. We've been here before but it was free! While we were there we ran into a friend from Kindergarten, Laiba, her sister Sarah and their mom. What a crazy coincidence. Again however, we had already been there and weren't to interested in staying that long.
Our last stop in Balboa Park was the International Cottages. We weren't sure which ones were opened and it turned out that only China was open but it was still pretty fun to go in and see the cultural stuff inside. This was Emma's favorite stop the first time we went with my parents forever ago and so it was fun for Emma to be able to see it again.
Well I know that not every Tuesday will get to be as great as this one but at least we got this Tuesday together. It was awesome and so great to be together as a family. Thanks Brent for taking the day off with your girls!

What a great day Cyn! Afton is into slugbugs too. Every time I see one when she isn't in the car I get all morbid and think...what if she dies? I'll never play that game again! I'm eating a chimi lovin' your blog and my kids are turning their noses up at them and eating cereal. I can't claim this off spring! Love you girl! So good to see pics of your fam and Emma is such a bright beautiful little soul.
