Little projects

This post should be entitled Little time wasters! NO really I thought both of these things were pretty clever. The other day when the weather turned a bit cold my wrist started bothering me again. Typically it doesn't but when the weather acts funny the joint swells a little and I have a hard time doing anything with it. I got thinking that it would feel really good to have some intense heat and cold therapy for it but that the heating pad was just a little too big for what I had in mind. So my mind went to work and I came up with this rice pack. Actually I loved mine so much that I made this one for my Momma. I don't know if you can tell from the pictures or not but the pack is sewn into sections for easier mobility. It wraps nicely around my wrist and because it's sewn into sections, the rice stays just where it's needed. I actually had a lot of fun with this one because I got to play with my digital scale and measure out all the rice in equal portions. Now I just throw it into the microwave for 90 seconds and WA LA instant heat pack. I discovered a few mornings after I had made my own that it was great over the shoulder that I slept funny on the night before!!!

This little bugger has been BUGGIN since I went to REI and found a nice molded rubber one for the right price of $3.50! YA right! I'm not about to pay that much for a little piece of molded rubber! I thought if maybe I could get on the website and find the name brand that maybe I could find it on Amazon or some place like that for half the price. No such luck. I found other ones that weren't quite the same that I didn't like but not the one I saw in REI. What I did find however was a make your own model. Not exactly what I had in mind but a good fix for now until I can get back down to REI (or find time to call on the phone) and find out the name brand. If you haven't scrolled down to check out the pic and find out what in the world I'm talking about, I'll tell you. It's a ear bud holder. Cords drive me insane and I hate it the worst when I'm trying to get them untangled. This like I said it wasn't the exact thing I wanted but it really works ok. Plus I got to cut up old cards in the process. Hey Heather does this card look familiar?!!! That's right it's the old Web Laundry Cards from Village Glen. Uh I can't believe I still had that hanging around all these years later!!! Here's the web site I found giving directions in case anyone cares! I think mine look better and if you do decide to do this definitely use a hole punch. It's so much cleaner and easier. Oh and also punch the hole first and then cut a slit! Oh and one the second one that I made for my phone ear buds I punched the hole in the top middle of the card and I like that better than being on the side. WHAT? So I'm easily entertained!?!

Oooh, I like the rice wrist thing. I have several bigger ones that I'm totally addicted to. I may have to make one of those little ones. You rock!
