You can imagine that going back there wasn't my idea of fun but then I learned that this field trip would not be in Balboa Park but at school. The science center came to our school and we had an in house field trip. It was pretty cool actually. They had 5 stations set up to teach about sound. It got a little noisy and crazy just as a sound experiment should. There are three pictures here.

Fleet Science Center Field Trip
Fleet Science Center has "not" been one of my favorite places to go. Soon after we moved to SD Emma had a very large wet accident there at the science center. Not only did she have an accident but it was long after she should have been having them. We rushed into the bathroom where she would not let me come in and help her, then couldn't get her pants down and then stood there crying while there was a pool forming all over the ground and I do mean all over the ground, while I stood outside the door nearly screaming at Emma to let me into the stall. After that it went completely downhill. I had to drag Emma out of there from upstairs, screaming at me that I was a bad mommy and that she hated me. She screamed at me all the way to the parking lot and then continued screaming at me all the way home which was about a 25 minute drive because of rush hour. Oh ya and I forgot to say that all of this happened on the parks free Tuesday's so there were about a million mothers there with all their kids to witness my finest parenting hour.
The first is the station I was at. There were several sizes of tuning forks and the kids had to hit the fork to make it vibrate and the touch it against things like ping pong balls attached to string or a bowl of water or a thing of rice. Each of these would react differently to the size fork they were using. The water was cracking me up because it was such a mess which I didn't care about because it was fun and educational but the lady from the center was having a cow. She would come over and wipe down the forks right after the kid would use it and then the kid would pick it back up and put back into the water. She was trying so hard to clean up after the kids while they were still experimenting. It was driving me nuts watching how ocd she was. Obviously she doesn't have kids yet! The second is of a cup and rope tied to the cup. The kids had to wet their fingers and slide them down the string.
Just thinking of this gives me the heebie jeebies. I hate that feeling. It's like chalk on a chalk board. The last one was something I have never thought of or seen. The kids had spoons with strings attached. They had to wind the string around their fingers, put their fingers in their ears and then bang the string against the chair or table to feel and hear the
vibrations. It was pretty cute. All in all I can't wait for the next one. They are coming back to our school in awhile to do another one about motion and force I think. I have to be honest though, I don't really want that same lady coming back. She was a little to anal for me!
