Steph and Geoff - The San Diego Bay Ferry, the U.S.S. Midway, and North Coronado Beach

My friend Chantal told me about the ferry awhile ago and since then we have taken it back and forth a few times. After Old Town we drove down (or up I'm not sure which way) to the Ferry. We actually drove across the bridge over to Coronado because we thought it would be kinda fun to walk down to the
Midway and let the kids see the big ship. I love the short ride across the bay. I love this picture of Geoffrey too. What a great shot Steph. One of the highlights during the ferry ride was getting to go into the Military base and pick up passengers. They told us to leave our camera's in our pockets or they would board our ship and confiscate them. It was a little surreal to see people hard at work on a huge ship (I think it was the George Washington). So we went across and walked around for a while. The kids liked the great big statue of the Sailor kissing the Nurse. Emma liked the big shoes. Okay so I know it is bad but we did make the kids pose for this picture. It is so cute though isn't it? Besides, if some day they do get married, won't it be great to have pictures from when they were young? See we are just thinking ahead! On our way back we were sitting in the very back on the top. This flag kept hitting me in the head and I was getting just a little irritated. I looked up at one point and thought about moving when the thought hit me, "Hello you big dummy, this is the American flag. you should be grateful to have such and awesome symbol hitting you in the head." So instead of getting upset, I took a video of it.
I was pretty impressed with the way it turned out. I am trying to post it up permanently on the blog to play over and over but well we'll see how that goes. The kids were really good and we had promised them at the beginning that we would let them play in the water in Coronado if they behaved. I am proud of them for being such troupers. Awhile ago I attended a bonfire on the beach at Coronado. During the time we were there the big F-15's flew over head us. I thought we would go to the same spot and play there hoping to see the same thing. No such luck. We only saw Helicopters which are still cool but not as cool as the fighter jets. Maybe next time. The water was freezing cold but the kids still got pretty wet and had a good time. Just a quick funny story. There were these two life guards right up close to the water and Geoff got up there first. They asked him where his mom was and he told them he wasn't allowed to talk to strangers. Way to go Geoff (and way to go MOM!) This was the sand as we walked away. I thought it was the perfect end to such a terrific day.
