Which is the silver and which is the gold?
I just spent the evening with two close friends. It was sort of impromptu and really not that big a deal. Jennie needed to get ready for a stamp party she is doing and asked Mary and I to come over and help. Really she was asking if we would mind visiting with her until she figured out what she was doing and in truth we just sat around enjoying each others company. We laughed and had a nice evening. It reminded me of another night I had with Steph and our husbands eating Mexican soup and playing cards. Again laughter and a nice evening. Really it could be any number of people that we have enjoyed being with over the years. I got thinking on the way home tonight that eventually Mary or Jennie or I will move away as I have done time and again. We will make new friends and miss the ones we left. Often I have thought about the many nights when the Heddens, Piets, and Burgess' got together and played games. I have thought so many times about the Condos' and the Larkins, and of course my own family. Now we get together with the Williams and the Beesleys and the Jones' and the Curtis' and many more hopefully to come. Is the old addage really true, 'Make new friends but keep the old, one is silver and the other gold'? Which is the silver and which is the gold and do you ever get to come back around to those friends that life made you leave behind? Will we ever again play cards with Nate and Jen or will I ever sit again on a park bench and visit with Jeanie? Does life ever return to what it once was? I am not complaining about my life. We have lived in SD for two wonderful years and been very happy here. We have made wonderful friends and had wonderful experiences. I just wonder if GMA and ICDrez will ever camp at Lake Mead or go to Six Flags again together! I wonder if Eunice and George will ever have any more gand adventures where we laugh until we pee our pants or sit in the jacuzzi until our kids are water logged. I cherish my friends. Every last one of them. They are the friends of today, tomorrow and certainly yesterday. Make new friends but keep the old, yah, I'm pretty sure that the're all gold!

Cyndi,
I just have to say that you are one of my golden friends and I really hope that we have a chance to play games or make Halloween treats (with tons of frosting), or just hang out and talk forever again. I know that you are a friend that I can always count on. I really miss you, but i know that we will always be friends no matter the distance. love you girl!
