I wish I could take credit but really it belongs to the Lord

On Sunday I was asked to write a program for the primary kids on following the prophets. The program begins with a story. I am not nearly finished but I was so pleased with how the story turned out that I wanted to share it with all my friends. Especially because I feel that these words are not necessarily mine but from a higher authority that needed this to be written. Typically I do not share my writing unless you are very close to me because I don't take criticism about that aspect of my life very well. So be gentle with me! Here it is the start of my program.

"The Good King"
Once upon a time there lived an old king. He was a good king and he loved the people in his villages very much. The king was sad though because he never got to see the people he loved so much. You see the king’s castle was on a very high mountain that stood above all of his villages and to get to the villages or to get to the castle you had to pass through a thick forest and climb the high mountain. None of the king’s subjects would dare to pass through the forest or attempt to climb the mountain. The king wanted his people to come to him and tell him about their happy times or their sad times or their problems. He wanted to be there for his people however the king was getting older and couldn’t climb down the mountain or try to pass through the thick forest for he knew he would never make it.

One day the king came up with a brilliant plan. He would send his son to make a way for the people to come up and down the mountain and a way to go through the forest. He knew that his son would not have an easy time with this, but the king knew it was the only way he would ever see his people again. So his son bravely set out on this noble quest. His son was away for many days and nights but when he finally returned it was with triumphant news that his quest was complete. The king was filled with joy, excitement and hope that he would soon see his people. He sent his son once more to each village surrounding his castle. He told his son to find one man in each village who was worthy to lead his people. He told his son that it would be up to this man to lead the people on the right path so that they could return to their king. And so it was that the people followed their leader through the forest and up the mountain to go before the king.

Just like in this story our Heavenly Father loves us so much and because He loves us He has given us prophets to lead us back to Him. Here are just a few of those prophets.
