Saturday is a special day, its the day we take out the canoe!

I have had an older canoe for a number of years that has hung in my parents back yard because we never had a place we could store it. Now we finally have a house and place it can be. When we picked it up awhile ago it had had some damage done to it and so Brent fixed what he could (No I did not bend the bar with my big bootie. It was one of the things that was wrong and we didn't think it would be smart to bend it back) and we took it out to the lake on Saturday. When we got there this old codger came up and said that it was pretty choppy for a canoe. Funny! To an extent he was right but once we got past the no fishing signs and actually out on the lake it was smooth. Brent hadn't been in a canoe since before his mission and I haven't been in one since I went with the Young Women and Aubrey was my canoe mate! It was such a thrill to be out in the open water in this little tiny craft. Emma had a ball and I loved being able to see nature all around us. The birds were cool because you could sneak right up to them and watch really quiet. We almost tipped once on the way back in but we caught it and straightened out just in time. It freaked Emma and I out pretty good! As we were loading the canoe back on top of the truck, Brent said that he had had such a great time. (Isn't that such a great picture of him! Oh he's so cute!) I was so happy that this little family adventure could be so positive. Later that night and into the next morning I was a little sore but it was still great. Brent wanted to skip church and go canoeing again but of course we didn't and he wouldn't have done that anyway! Lately we have been really trying to go out together as a family and create great memories. I have a surprise planned for Saturday to come and I can't wait to see Emma's face when we get there.

Oh my gosh, I loved the canoe trips down the river! I seem to remember there was a song we made up. But, I'm old, and I can't remember how it goes. Hmmmm. I'll have to see if I can find it. Cause I'm sure it's golden! I'm glad you had fun!

Yes I too recall a song. Something about me wielding a knife to save us all from drowning!
