Stupid lady just shut your mouth!

The other day we were at the zoo. As we were walking up the road I smelled something that was instantly a sensory memory. I smelled my Grandma's back yard. It smelled like Honeysuckle! I backed up and smelled again and asked Emma if she could smell it as well and she could. We found this flower that the smell was coming from. I was delighted! We stood there smelling it and as we did this lady comes up and says that the flower is poisonous and if we are not careful the liquid from it could make us blind. She was not zoo staff mind you. Now answer me this...Would the San Diego Zoo, known for its amazing zoo but also known for it's world-class botanical garden where thousands of visitors come to see the plants rather than the animals, let a poisonous plant grow out in the open where it would be available for little hands to touch it and potentially be poisoned? I think not! As a side note, I emailed the zoo and haven't had a response but if I get one I will post the results. I am more than willing to humble myself if I am wrong but I really don't think I am.

That is HILARIOUS! Why? Because I'm pretty sure that Angela, Kristi and I ran into the same old "wanna be zoo keeper hag" a couple of months ago! Hahahaha...we were at the gorilla exhibit and Kristi had parked her stroller on the dirt and bark where EVERYONE parks their strollers and there are NO plants and went to show Ella the gorillas. When she came back this lady starts verbally attacking her for DESTROYING THE PLANTS! She did NOT work for the zoo. Hahaha...it's a longer story than that (remind me to tell you in person) and it's soooooo funny!

I typed in "Is the Honeysuckle flower poisonous?" in the google search and it came up with several sites that talk about the plant. It said, some parts of the honeysuckle are poisonous if ingested, like the berries but I didn't read that you were eating it and it didn't say anything about going blind. Another site talked about the medicinal properties of the plant. I think that lady was talking out of her, you know what!!!!

Okay I was just about to tell you the story of the crazy old lady who 'thinks' she works at the zoo. But I read Kim's comment. To add to kim's comment... She told me not to park my stroller where the plants were and I said "there are no plants here!" and she said (very rude) "That's because of people like you!" She went on and on about the facts of the zoo plants and the animals etc. like she really thought she worked there! It has to be the same crazy lady. I'm so sure that there are bunches of posionous plants through out the zoo and people intentionally trying to ruin all the plants in the designated stroller parking! Crazy lady!
