There is no picture for this post, only great memories. Anita came to visit just for Emma's recital. She told us to keep it a secret so she could surprise Emma. I typically do such a great job with secrets but I guess I was just so excited about her coming that I couldn't contain myself. I slipped six times and all but one Brent was able to catch me and spin some tale to cover my slip. Anita flew in to SD about 2 hours before Emma's recital and one the way down to pick her up I kept giving false clues to Emma about our mystery guest, just to throw her off. When we finally made it downtown Emma had to go potty. We were on the early side of waiting and I knew a place down by the dock that had public restrooms. The whole time we were in the bathrooms I kept hearing the bark of sea lions so after our little break we walked down to the sorta creepy docks and looked for the sea lions. Sure enough we found them barking at one another. So fun to see sea life at an any day occurrence. After the creepy docks we drove back up to the airport and finally saw my sister. Emma started screaming with glee as she realized who her mystery guest was. After the recital Anita took us out to eat at Sublime and although it was terrible service that night the food...ahh the food, was "sublime"! The next morning after Karate we went and ran errands. I felt a little bad about running random errands since Anita had flown in to see us but after I thought about it I came to the conclusion that it was more than just running errands it was revisiting places that we treasure. Places like Sublime, Wahoo's, and Old Town. Really it didn't matter because I was with my sister and that was the best! Later on that same night she and I went to see HP 7.1 (Harry Potter's seventh movie - first installment!) It was terrific! Then the next morning we got up and drove to Las Vegas for the Thanksgiving holiday. Typically the drive is dull and boring and to make matters worse the whole weekend had been filled with rain and of course our drive started out with rain as well. It was raining so hard that I missed the exit for the I-215 to Vegas and took the longer way. It's only longer by about 1/2 hour but ya know I think it was a pretty good choice. The rain slowed down and eventually stopped and as we drove though this one mountain pass a rainbow so big and bright and beautiful developed right before our eyes. I wish the camera hadn't been packed away in the back of the car so we could have gotten a picture because it was the biggest, most beautiful rainbow. It stretched over the whole freeway and at different times hid behind the mountain until we would go around the corner or something. I was the lucky one who got to drive during this time but really I felt very lucky because I had the best view of the rainbow for the longest time. Well I think that pretty much sums up our time with Anita but it was great having her here. I think that was the last time she'll be here as a single lady and since she's moving to Texas after the wedding I guess it's one of the last times that she'll be able to just come on a whim. Things will change, as they always do, but I've loved having my sister be close enough to come for the weekend and play. I've been so blessed to have a sister who loves my family and me so much that she will drop everything, spend a couple hundred bucks when she really doesn't have it and fly to see my daughters first piano recital. She's the best sister a girl could ask for! I love ya Nita! Thanks for always being there!
