Floating Away

December 22, 2010
Yesterday morning at 5 a.m. Brent woke me up to tell me the dinning room was flooded. Ok? Just great! He said he'd called the apartment manager and laid down some towels so I decided there was nothing I could do and went back to bed! It had been the sixth day of pretty much straight rain and I guess our little house just couldn't take it any longer. Later when I got up I realized that the towels were soaked through and so I grabbed more and threw the wet ones in the spin cycle and then in the dryer. That was my day until about 2:30 when the repair man came to take a look. He came in, put down a dehumidifier and said he was going to seal up the leaks. I haven't seen him since. Seriously that's all he said to me. About an hour later these two guys (different guys) show up at my door telling me they're there to take care of the carpet. Ok? No one told me about that but SURE!!!! Come on in. They move everything out of my little dinning room, shove it all into my little front room and rip up the carpet. They cut out parts of the padding that was wet and then sucked up as much water from the carpet. They sprayed some kind of anti bacterial thing on the carpet, told me not to walk on it for half an hour and said they'd be back sometime the next day! OK? It's now the next day and we are waiting! We'll see how long we have to wait but you know what? I'm so grateful for a few things. #1 I get my dinning room carpet cleaned for free right before Christmas. #2 It wasn't on Christmas! #3 The whole thing isn't my bill! #4 Well #4 can be just that I'm grateful this wasn't a bigger inconvenience! I had to laugh though because in the midst of everything, here sleeps Braxton! Unfazed by anything! By the way do you like the Double Big Gulp cups acting like water catchers on the floor. I guess the guy sealed up the leak but there was still water stuck in there that had to come out. We moved the turtle tank today so that the WHOLE floor could be properly cleaned, for free. Wasn't that nice of us!!!
