An Early Christmas From My Sisters

No, the car breaking down wasn't an early Christmas present but the love that immediately followed after the car breaking down was. Thursday December 16, 2010 I ended up hanging around after school, visiting with friends, knowing there wasn't really any commitments at home to be to, I really was in no rush. Emma and I casually walked around the corner to the car and though there were a few cars around most of the mad after school rush had already left. We got in the car, pulled out of the lot, up the street and around the corner into the left turn lane, stepped on the brake due to the red light and the car went dead! I'm not talking put the flashers on and the engine kinda gives a half whinny sound, no I'm talking the flashers don't work and there is no power to the car whatsoever. PANIC! Poor Emma was so terrified. I should have known better and told her right then and there that everything would be ok but I myself was a little worried as well and of course wasn't thinking clearly. Here we were in a somewhat busy intersection where we had just moments until the light would change and I would be the sore spot of every one who would have to try to get around me while honking because I had no flashers! Within seconds there was Darlene Dunn. Now I mention names because I want to be able to look back and KNOW years from now who came to my rescue. She was telling me she would come around. Then there was Tina Schwinkendorf saying she would turn around and come help. Then before I know it Melanie Frank and Jessica Smith are walking up the side to come and help. Then from two lanes over is Nancy Maxwell asking if I'm ok. Here's the thing...I'm know there were a few more who asked. I can't remember because it was all happening so fast. (Please please tell me who I've forgotten so I can add it here.) Soon there was Darlene pulling up in front of my car and getting out of hers with a tow rope, telling me to pop my hood! Jessica's on the phone with AAA and Darlene and Melanie are checking out the battery cable that has snapped. Darlene's starts fiddling with the cable and sure enough has the cable jammed in and Emma shouts out the door that the CD player is making noises. Jessica tells AAA that were good and no longer need a tow and I start the car. Darlene drives in front of me, Jessica follows in back and we make it safely home. I AM BLESSED! I am overwhelmed with love. The rest of the day I was on top of the world feeling like the queen of Sheba with all the love and support that I got from everyone. I took pictures of the car and emailed them to Brent. He bought the part and fixed it no problem. Six dollar part! The next morning at school more people came to find out if I was ok. Tina said that by the time she found a place to park and got back that I was gone. Bless her heart for just trying to get back! How is it that at a time when more people should have already been gone from around the school because I stayed to talk, there were so many around at that light. The Lord truly is everything! Darlene told me that when she told her hubby he said something like, "Leave it to the Relief Society!" It's so true. I've thought about that name given to women of our faith. Being a member of the Relief Society is a strange but wonderful organization to be in. It's not just giving relief but it's also receiving relief at all facets of our lives whether it be physical or spiritual. I really felt like I had been given Christmas early that day. Thank you everyone who took the time whether to stop and come back, call over from two lanes, or be there to call AAA or to even check on me the next morning, thank you! I don't know what I would have had to do if it hadn't have been for my sisters!

I still find myself smiling when I think of Darlene walking up with her heavy duty rope all ready to tow you. Now that is prepared. I told her that she takes being prepared to the next level. I love it!!!! :)
